Hot N’ Cold

Hot N’ Cold

Jun 16, 2015

You’ve battled your way through both the State Wing and the Main Hall, and now it’s time to test your skills in the main event!

Since you’ve broken Doctor Jackall’s hold on the Yeomen, Sherlock Bones concludes that there is only one way for him to get out…he must be taking the Queen to her Royal Airship! Don’t worry though, Watson assures you that the rooftop is completely safe and easy to navigate. What could possibly go wrong?

Upon entering the instance, you are confronted by Doctor Jackall himself, who states that the Queen is already installed in the airship waiting for him. He then leaves you in the dangerous hands of Margherita Vizzini. Vizzini is the master of the Opera Nova school in Valencia and she’s DYING to teach you a lesson or two.

Margherita Vizzini (Myth, 4,525 health) is always accompanied by at least one Lanyon Scratcher  (Storm, 1,255 health). Both Margherita Vizzini and her minions are stunnable.

Margherita Vizzini’s Cheats

*Warning: Confusing Boss Ahead!*

I’ve tested this boss countless times, and can’t seem to find a pattern for most of her cheats. Some of these cheats include trapping you, casting cleanse charm, and casting pierce. There are however, two cheats that I can always get to occur:

  • Hitting Margherita Vizzini without killing her will result in her shouting “Riposte!” and interrupting to cast a 35% Mythblade followed by her natural attack that does about 333 damage.
    • This cheat Mythblade stacks with a regular Mythblade.
    • Multi-Hit attacks like Minotaur or Hydra will trigger the cheat for however many times she got hit. For example, Minotaur (2 hits) would result in her giving herself a Mythblade, attacking, giving herself another Mythblade, and then attacking again (2 rounds of the cycle.) Hydra (3 hits) would trigger the cycle 3 times.
    • If you attack her with a DOT, “Riposte” will only trigger for the initial hit of the DOT, not the ticks.

Riposte

  • Beguiling one of her minions will result in her interrupting with “I have studied in Crab Alley!” which will trigger a storm prism and Triton on the person who cast it.
    • The Beguile will still go through as normal.

Ihavestudied

The following are not cheats, but very worthy of noting:

  • They LOVE to Wild Bolt and stun

Margherita Vizzini Strategy

  • Wear gear with good storm resist. These enemies LOVE to Wild Bolt, so you want to be prepared if they happen to land a decent hit on you.
  • Pack some heals. Both the boss and her minions have the potential to hit hard. Make sure you have some heals handy when you need them.
  • Take everyone out at once with an AOE. Killing everyone in one shot eliminates the “Riposte” cheat and is the most efficient and quickest way to approach this fight. Designate a hammer, blade them up, feint Margerita Vizzini, and then boom!

Once you overcome Margherita Vizzini’s defenses, you are greeted by two new foes: Mister Poole ( Fire 5,425 health) and Mister Utterson (Ice 5,425 health). Both of these bossees are stunnable.

copycats

Mister Poole and Mister Utterson’s Cheats

These two cats are copy cats! Their cheats are completely dictated by what the other one does during their normal round. If you kill one boss, there is no cat to copy and all the cheats will disappear.

Mister Poole’s Cheats

  • When Mister Utterson uses his natural attack, Mister Poole will interrupt to say “Let’s have some hard words!” and cast a cheat natural attack of his own dealing around 235-350 damage to the same person.

letshave

  • When Mister Utterson casts Iceblade, Mister Poole will interrupt to say “I’ll match you, sir.” and cast a 40% Fireblade on himself.
    • This cheat Fireblade stacks with a regular Fireblade.

illmatch

  • When Mister Utterson casts an Icetrap, Mister Poole will interrupt to say “I’ll follow your lead” and cast a 35% Firetrap on the same person.
    • This cheat Firetrap will stack with a regular Firetrap.

Illfollowyour

  • When Mister Utterson casts Legion Shield, Mister Poole will interrupt to say “Time to armor up!” and cast a 35% version of Fuel.
    • This cheat Fuel will stack with a regular Fuel.

timetoarmor

Mister Utterson’s Cheats

  • When Mister Poole casts his natural attack, Mister Utterson will interrupt to say “We’ll have some hard words indeed!” and cast a cheat natural attack of his own dealing around 155 damage to the same person.

wellhave

  • When Mister Poole casts a Firetrap, Mister Utterson will interrupt to say “I’ll follow your lead” and cast a 35% Icetrap on the same person.
    • This cheat Icetrap will stack with a regular Icetrap.

Illfollowyour

  • When Mister Poole casts Fuel, Mister Utterson will interrupt to say “Time to burn it to the ground.” and cast a Legion Shield.

timetoburn

Not a cheat, but Mister Utterson will cast Tower Shield very frequently.

Mister Poole and Mister Utterson Strategy

  • Get some gear with decent resist. With cheat traps, blades, and natural attacks on top of regular blades, traps, and attacks, these guys can pack a real punch. You won’t know when they will do what, so you need to be prepared to take the damage that they will deal.
  • Pack some heals. These guys have the potential to hit hard. Make sure you have some heals handy when you need them.
  • Pack Shatter. Not only does Mister Utterson Legion Shield and cheat Legion Shield, he also uses Tower Shield very frequently. Having Shatter will be handy to get rid of those nasty shields, especially on a hit round.
  • Recommended: Treat this battle like a normal boss fight. Designate a hammer, blade them up, feint both bosses, and have the hammer hit with an AOE.
  • Other Option: Take out one boss at a time. If you would rather not deal with their cheats, designate a hammer, blade them up, feint your target, and then take them out one after another.

Once you’ve taken care of those two copy cats, you must find a way into the Control Deck, which is currently locked up tight. To find your way in, you must complete a puzzle.

Puzzle

To start, approach the book on the left side of the room, which will prompt this dialogue:

brokencontrols1

brokencontrols2

brokencontrols3

To solve this puzzle, you’ll need to find the two levers that don’t match up properly.

Here is what a lever that DOES match up looks like:

Here is a lever that doesn’t match up (What you should be looking for):

levernomatch

If you’re still having trouble, these two levers are the correct answer:

puzzle

Should you choose the wrong lever, you’ll be forced to battle the Union Jack Golem (Fire, 4,375 health).

unionjack

The Union Jack Golem has no minions, or cheats, so you can treat this fight like a normal boss battle. After the Union Jack Golem’s defeat, the doors to the Control Deck will open.

Once you’ve completed the puzzle, or defeated the Union Jack Golem, your final battle awaits!

Doctor Jackall has been able to tap into an alternate and more powerful form, but he is unable to stay in it for long. With the Queen’s Jewels however, he will be able to complete his alchemical solution and stay in this all powerful form forever! We can’t let that happen, can we?

Doctor Jackall starts off as an ice boss with 6,075 health, accompanied by 3 Lanyon Scratchers (Storm, 1,255 health). Both Jackall and his minions are stunnable.

Doctor Jackall’s Cheats

  • At the beginning of round 1, Doctor Jackall will interrupt to shout “I invoke the power of ice!” and cast a Balefrost.
    • You can change this bubble with no consequence.

iinvoke

  • At the end of round 4, Doctor Jackall will interrupt to shout “See my true face!” and transform into his alternate form, Mister Hound, who is a fire boss with 5,894 health. Doctor Jackall will also cast a Wyldfire.
    • This transformation can be dispelled using Quench. However, he will try to transform again after 4 rounds.
    • You can change the Wyldfire with no consequence.

doctorjackallfire

  • At the end of round 7, Doctor Jackall will transform back into his original ice form.
    • This change cannot be dispelled.
  • At the beginning of round 8, Doctor Jackall will interrupt to shout “The weakness returns!” and cast a Balefrost. (This signifies his official transformation back to his original form.)
    • You can change this bubble with no consequence. However, it would be a waste considering he will change it at the end of the same round anyway.

theweakness

  • At the end of round 8, Doctor Jackall will once again shout “See my true face!” which will cause him to transform back into his fire form, along with casting a Wyldfire.
    • You can change this bubble with no consequence.
  • If you kill all of Doctor Jackall’s minions, he will interrupt to say “My rage boils over!” and cast a Fiery Giant which leaves a -45% Smokescreen.

myrage

The complete cycle looks like this:

  • Round 1 (Beginning): Balefrost
  • Round 2: Normal
  • Round 3: Normal
  • Round 4 (End): Transformation to fire form + Wyldfire
  • Round 5: Normal
  • Round 6: Normal
  • Round 7 (End): Transformation back to ice form
  • Round 8 (Beginning): Balefrost
    • Round 8 (End): Repeat rounds 4-8

Doctor Jackall’s Ice Form Cheats and Info

  • Boosts fire
  • After Doctor Jackall’s ice form uses his natural attack, he will interrupt to shout “I’ll take that!” and cast Steal Ward.

illtake

    • If you hit Doctor Jackall’s ice form with a DOT, he will only cast Legion Shield once for the initial hit. He will NOT Legion Shield after the damage ticks.

Doctor Jackall’s Fire Form Cheats and Info

  • Resists fire
  • Boosts ice
  • After Doctor Jackall’s fire form uses his natural attack, he will interrupt to shout “I’ll take that, thank you!” and cast Steal Charm.

illtakethat

  • If Doctor Jackall’s fire form is hit, he will interrupt to shout “You dare strike me?” and cast a 35% Fireblade, followed by a natural attack dealing around 162 damage.
    • This cheat Fireblade will stack with a normal Fireblade.

Doctor Jackall Strategy

  • Pack some heals. Both the boss and his minions have the potential to hit hard. Make sure you have some heals handy when you need them.
  • If you boost ice, and won’t be able to kill by round 4, dispel Jackall’s fire form. If you have a fire hammer especially, have someone Quench Doctor Jackall before round 4. This will buy you extra rounds to blade up if needed and attack him in his ice form.
  • Take everyone out at once with an AOE. Designate a hammer, blade them up, feint Doctor Jackall, and then boom!
    • Make sure that your hit will kill everyone. You don’t want Doctor Jackall to be left standing with all of the minions gone, he will cast his Fiery Giant.

Once you’ve taken care of Doctor Jackall, he realizes what he did was wrong and urges you to suffer him on his dark path. With Jackall out of the way, you are finally able to free the Queen, take control of the airship, and go home. When you reach the palace, you are engulfed in applause! Woohoo!

Now that the kingdom is saved, it’s time for the moment you’ve been waiting for. Go ahead and snap a picture of you with the Queen, you deserve it, really.
